The AT Surgical Hernia Truss allows complete freedom of movement in most physical activities, and features a double-elastic waistband, with multi-lock stitching that adheres the full area of Velcro® to the elastic and holds fast to prevent bulging or slippage. Easy to put on, take off, quickly, the Truss gives firm, dependable pressure and containment. To properly contain the hernia, the foam rubber pad must be positioned in the ventilated Velcro® pocket. This is best accomplished by lying down and locating hernia opening. When necessary, coughing helps to identify the exact location. Apply pressure upward and inward on the pad to place the hernia properly. While standing, the flannel leg strap should be pulled upward and/or sideways depending on the location of the hernia, until it’s in a position that supports the hernia. For maximum comfort, be sure the leg strap follows the gluteal crease at the base of the butt cheek. Excess length may be cut off where it extends above the top of the waistband. After putting on the garment for the first time, check all fastenings to ensure they are secure: A) Waistband closure, B) Perineal legstrap, C) truss pad. Feel free to adjust for maximum comfort. This initial adjustment on the truss is usually adequate for long-term use. From then on, it’s easy to put on as any other garment.
